So, about a month ago, Shae had another ear infection in the good ear, with full-blown ear drum rupture. She was treated, it looks good now, but we have to go back to the ENT this Thursday to see if he wants to put in another tube. I am hoping he does, because this weekend, Shae's been complaining of ear pain and running a slight fever. I started the antibiotic drops right away, so it seems to be getting better, but we HAVE to preserve the hearing in her good ear. Infections are a very big deal for her.
On the plus side, it's Swap Time for the microtia group. The kids get assigned a buddy and send a Christmas gift out to him/her. Shae helped pick out her gift for her friend who has a "crooked ear, just like me!" It's so great for her to send out her gift with her picture and receive a package with a picture from a kid whose ear looks like hers. I think, even though she's only 3, that it really means a lot for her to know that she is just fine the way she is, and there are other kids just like her. I am so glad that we were blessed to find the Yahoo support group - if you have a kid with microtia, check out my links bar and join the group.
