Not feeling all that patient...

I've resigned myself to the fact that this is going to be a battle. Probably a long one, because of the insurance issue. I don't know if the change from Aetna HMO under my current employer to Aetna HMO under the company that bought us will mean that I have to start this whole thing all over again next month. Insurance Betty from the hospital called me on Friday, but I was at work, and then I couldn't get ahold of her for the rest of the day. I left a message for her, but the tone of her voicemail makes me think that I am going to be hearing another big, fat NO. I have my appeal letter for Aetna all ready to go. I am just so frustrated with this whole ordeal. It seems very cut and dry to me, and I am tired of playing games. But Shae needs her Baha, she asks to have it put on all the time, and she is so much more responsive when wearing it. Aetna for sure covers the implantable Baha at age 5, but WHY should my daughter have to wait to hear??? I just don't get it. I really don't.

On a side note, Shae's ear continues to heal. It looks really good, but the top part is starting to fold down a bit again, which the surgeon warned us might happen. But still looking really good, and I don't think we'll be in any rush to have the top part operated on again. We go back to the surgeon's office tomorrow a.m., but that appt's with the nurse practitioner. I am hoping that Shae will either be able to take the cup off or be given a new one, because the one she has on now is on it's last leg. I've been scrubbing it with a toothbrush and Clorox to get it clean, but she's been wearing it for a month now - I think we need a new one!
