So I totally thought this would be the hardest day. Figured Shae would be cranky and in pain, and just plain out miserable. Just goes to show what I know.
The kid was up at 6:45 this morning, scoffed at the idea of taking any medicine, chugged a bottle of water, ate some Jell-O and demanded to go outside to play.
I compromised with a walk to the post office and Dunkin' Donuts in the wagon. She ate 5 jelly munchkins. I don't care about sugar consumption at the moment - if she craved Pixie Stix for breakfast, I'd probably give them to her right now. When we returned from the walk, she helped me water my plants and demanded to ride her bike.
WHAT?!? What part of "quiet activity" is this child not understanding? She's a speed-demon on that Dora bike, careening around the cul-de-sac like her training wheels are on fire. So, um, NO.
Nona and Grandpa sent her a really adorable monkey pillow case and a singing card and one of Shae's favorite monkeys, so I was able to get her to sit down with the monkey and watch some PBS.
I feel like today is opposite day - no, Shae, you can't go out and play. Stay inside and eat sugar and watch TV. But I will take her back outside a little later on, I just don't want her to overdo it. I can't believe how great she is doing.
And when I adjusted the cup over her ear today, I had to check the color and make sure all is looking good. It looks AMAZING. Stitches and bright yellow packing and all. The color is normal again and looks nice and healthy. Cannot wait to see it next week!!!
